I'm so glad to be finished with this! This is one of the main characters in my series of short stories about mystical/mythical heriones... she might look "odd" because she's not all human (part siren XD).
I used open Canvas for the line work (it was drawn on paper and scanned first though), and Photoshop for the brushing/colouring and what have you. The original size was something like 2000x3000, so there's a few details lost. But I really like it, cuz I don't usually do backgrounds. and that's about it!
Oh, oh... she is French, so her name doesn't actually sound like 'Charles' in English... it's more like 'Sharle' if you want to say it right. I don't think it's a French name... but I thought the end result sounded pretty... she puts Charles on papers to gather a crew, and everyone thinks it's a man... then they're surprised when they find she's a woman ^_^ also "duMer" would be something like "of the sea." It would actually be something like "delaMer" if I wanted to be totally correct, but that sounded horrible! DuMer is much cooler! haha, I'll stop now XD
started 21/4/04 - completed 24/5/04 opencanvas (inks), photoshop (colours)
thank you!!! the colours took forever and a day to come up with... I would have been done a lot earlier if I could think of them Hehe, I had the purple sashes done.... Then I couldn't think or what went well. hehe I'm glad you like it though!
Dear God, where to begin???....
First off, the background is delicious! The soft sand is great, and the water looks incredible. The clouds are just so fluffy! *pokes them*
I guess I'll go from head to toe to make this easier for me, hehehe...
Her anatomy is brilliant! I love her tall-lean-long legged look. The folds in her clothes are just AMAZING, a bit fantastical, but totally realistic at the same time... winning combination, I must say.
Her face is beautiful, she's got this whole I-may-look-pretty-but-don't-get-too-clos e attitude about her. THAT HAIR! OMFG the hair.. *pets it* Beautiful toning on the hair, and likewise on the skin, they're just gorgeous.
Her belt/scabbard is really pretty, and as is her cutlass. The detail on the hilt and crossguard makes it that much prettier, and whoo, I want her rings!!!!
Her pants are a verra nice colour, and... her boots.... Holy Shit @ her boots.
Needless to say....... I like this veeeeeeeeeeerra much.
This is a beautiful character design. I love the pose. Very striking. The background is rather nice. It really sets the mood. I think the break line on the water should undulate a little more, but that's all. Gotta

Great character design. And that's a good background for her.
